Just back from a wonderful weekend at Art in the Gardens, at the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield, UK. I shared a display space with Liz from LinellDesigns, as well as entering four of my images into the Open Art Exhibition. This is one of the few local events that allow photographic images alongside other Arts, and is the first time I’ve entered.
And I won!
Saracen was judged best in the Photography section – so I proudly lined up to receive my certificate from the Lady Mayor.
Saturday had been very wet, and although a Botanical Garden may look beautiful in the rain, visitor numbers were unsurprisingly low. We were all delighted to see the Sun on Sunday, and the grounds soon filled up. I have a great fondness for this event – the range of art on display is breathtaking. Abstracts compete with Figurative Portraits, Modern Romantics compete with Encaustic Wax. I don’t know if it’s the venue, or the hard work of the organisers and volunteers, everyone has a smile on their face from the 6am setup to the 6pm close. Great fun, inspiration and enjoyment – what more could you want?
