Every year, artists based in Derbyshire (UK) join together to promote Art in the region by hosting a series of Exhibitions and Events. Some join forces to rent Exhibition space; others exhibit in their workplaces and give demonstrations or have try-yourself sessions. Over a hundred artists’ amazing work to see over the Bank Holiday weekend: the thing is, do we hope for good weather for the joy it brings, – or rather wish for rain, so people look for an indoor event – like this one? So far we’ve had a mixture of both, keeping everyone happy – and busy.
For Xenmint Publications, this event has seen the launch of E M Linell’s fabulous new book ‘Firestone – Book One: Wolf-Blood’. So far, the response has been heart-warming, with friends from around the country offering support and visiting when possible. Book sales have been very encouraging – and the Kindle version is also now available, as well as the paperback via Amazon. It can also be ordered from all good booksellers, and is available in other e-book formats, Kobo, for example. We have had copies for sale at the exhibition, with the author signing copies and being asked repeatedly – when is Book Two coming out?!
Xenmint Photography along with Linell Designs have co-hosted an Exhibition of Artwork and Photography at our house on the edge of the Peak District National Park. The large 100x80cm aluminium-print of ‘Earth-Wave’ has attracted a lot of attention, as has the similar-sized print of ‘Church on the Hill’, and orders have also been placed for aluminium and gloss photo-paper versions. It is often a surprise what catches someone’s eye, but these aluminium prints on a black acrylic base are so stunning I’m half-hoping they don’t sell so I can keep them! Canvas versions of some other images are also finding favour with some purchasers. Linell Designs has displayed new Encaustic Wax paintings, and designs with Alcoholic Inks – and has been providing demonstrations in the latter each afternoon.
I’ll post again as the week Exhibition progresses.
